How should a parent dress for a school orientation?

New Parent Kindergarten Orientation

Smart casual, but make sure you are comfortable!

The best impression is when you look respectable and confident ( you wont be confident if you aren't comfortable in what you're wearing).

It is also only a kindergarten orietation, not a business meeting so I don't think it needs to be too formal. You want to be approachable and friendly.

Teachers dress smart casual, so you should too.How should a parent dress for a school orientation?
Schools vary widely; private schools vary widely. What were the staff members at the school (Principal, office staff, classroom teachers) wearing when you visited the school? That should give you some hints.

Unless the school is ultraconservative or very casual; you should be safe wearing conservative, modest, business casual clothing. A light cotton blazer, modest top, and cotton twill (like pressed khakis), wool crepe, or worsted wool tailored trousers-or an A-line skirt that comes to your knees. You could also wear a tailored blouse without a jacket. A knee length dress and jacket could work too, as long as the dress isn't too short, too formal, or too wild. Wear comfy shoes with low heels.
Well, my mother is a kindergarten principal and when she sees parents she looks if they are serious about their child's education by: Presentation, keeping attention, and copying down things.-Go in a business suit or formal wearing, pay attention to what they are saying, and bring a notebook and a pen to write down important things.
I'm going with business casual. Nice pair of jeans and a neat shirt/blouse. You could substitute jeans for a skirt that isn't too dressy. A Kindergarten Orientation seems low key enough. That's my advice. Don't overdress.
'Business casual' is your best bet! Do not dress like you were going clubbing, to the beach, to pull weeds in the garden or grocery shopping!
earlier this year i went in jeans, t shirt and sneakers he goes to a private school as well.
um you should dress nice for it. Since it is at school. So maybe nice pants and a blouse would work.
Depends on what kind of impression you want to make on the teachers and other parents.
I would dress smartly.
Dress like one of those Stepford Wives =) that'll do it!
It doesn't matter. The focus should be on your child, not on you.
formal i would say!
like a hooker...they will feel sorry for the kido and never give them homework
