He provided a good moral example, but I think that he was very emotionally remote and certainly untuned into the reality of their lives.Is Atticus a bad parent to Scout and Jem in To Kill a Mockingbird?
No, I don't think he was a bad parent at all
No, Atticus was an especially insightful father for the era, especially with Scout.
No..He treats them with respect, humor and guidance. He instills morals and ethics into them. He deals with them on an adult level, fairly and generously. He goes to great pains to instruct his children on the importance of being open-minded, judicious, generous neighbors and citizens. He is revealed to be an expert marksman, but he had chosen to keep this fact hidden from his children so that they would not in any way think of him as a man of violence.


This all points to a man whose duty to his children is one of love. It tells me that this man cared.
