As a parent, what kind of workshop would you be interested in?

I have to create a workshop for parents and am looking for ideas. If you had a choice, what kind of class would you attend on parenting? What issues interest you? Discipline techniques and dealing with handicapped children are examples of what kind of workshop i'm talking about. I would appreciate any feedback:)As a parent, what kind of workshop would you be interested in?
I would be interested in positive discipline versus negative discipline like ';time out, yelling , threats, and isolation'; I would like to learn more about problem solving, natural and logical consequences. I would also like to know about the effects of using punishments and rewards.As a parent, what kind of workshop would you be interested in?
I would think only a highly trained professional should create a class based on dealing with handicapped children.





I suppose I would go to one on cooperative parenting or disipline.
how to communicate with your children.


I think it is important to try to learn from each other rather then just the parents making there children learn from them. Kids are brighter then most parents give them credit for.
I think the most appealing type of workshop would be ';Setting your child up for success';


I think a lot of parents don't realize how much they don't teach their children when it comes to many issues such as: work ethic, responsability, taking care of yourself, and money. I always hear older generations complain about my generation and younger generations- ';They have no work ethic these days!'; and it's true. Most parents don't realize that a good work ethic/responsability starts with teaching your child. You could develop a work shop that teaches parents how to teach their kids to be successful in life through all the topics I mentioned above.


An example would be to give your kid jobs around the house that are age appropriate. You can teach a 9yr old to do their own laundry but this wouldn't be appropriate for a 6yr old. A 6yr old can feed and water the family pet and water the house plants. Reward them for a job well done with an allowence or some form of sticker chart that earns them a toy- whatever. The goal is to teach the kid how rewarding it is to work towards something and do a good job.

I would say....a workshop on not going crazy when you haven't slept for 2 days because your 2 month old cries every time you doze off, and still have to go to work every day.





Or a workshop that helps women sue their employers if they are fired because they have to stay home and care for their child with a 105 degree temperature.
I'll be honest. I probably wouldn't. Children are so individual, I would doubt it could be of any great use.





I'm not a workshop type of person generally, I'm afraid.
