At what age can a child in Texas refuse to live with their parent?

my friends 13 yr old granddaughter want to live with her and attend school in the area. Her mother refuses to let her and plans to move far away. The mother is being investigated by CPS. My friend said that she heard their is a law that if the child is a certain age that the child can choose who to live with. Is this true? And can the child choose to live with a grand parent? (The father passed away and his mother the grand parent) Any info would be greatly appreciatedAt what age can a child in Texas refuse to live with their parent?
the grandmother should contact a lawyer and call CPS and found out what is happening because as the the next of kin she has certain rights as she would represent the fathers rights. At what age can a child in Texas refuse to live with their parent?
The legal age for a child to make a decision regarding custody in Texas is 18. Plain and simple.

Being investigated by CPS is not the same as having the child put in the custody of the state. And until such time as the court orders the above, the mother has all rights to the child.
from experience the age is 17, you don,t have to live at home and your parents still have to be responsible for your welfare
Hi.i think it is depend on the person.if someone has a job and the ability of earning money it is the time to moving out.
