For benefit purposes,a partner is someone you live with as if married or are married to %26amp; living with.as you %26amp; your husband don't live together, you can claim as a single parent.however, you will have to tell all the agencies involved that you get 拢200 a month (which could be more than what the csa would get when they work out child maintenence, just as an example, before my partner moved in with me %26amp; our son he only paid 拢23 a week or 拢96 for a 4 week period %26amp; he was earning about 拢700 a month) or you'll face committing benefit fraud %26amp; all the penalties that go with that.they'll work out how much you'll get, from income support or jsa (depending on if you're looking for work or staying at home),housing %26amp; council tax benefit, tax credits.as long as you tell the agencies then you should be able to make a claim.it doesn't cost anything, after all %26amp; all they can say is no.while I have my opinions on your relationship, that's not what you're asking,so unlike the other answerers I'm going to keep that to myself. If I am married, can I claim benefits as a single parent?
Aslong as you explain the situtaion to them honey, then that should not be a problem. HOWEVER, please make sure you tell them everything and put it in writing, with a copy for yourself. I know that my council always bugger things up and blame it on me!
At least if you have proof that you have done everything properly and by the book, they cant come back at you and try and accuse you of something!
Hope that helps honey
xx
I would tell mu husband that i need more money...He needs to give you more money...stand firm on this..If he can't provide for you and your child better than that...get a divorce and then he will have to pay more...Its not a good relationship seeing each other so rarely....and its not good for the child...why does he not live with you anyway...are you sure he does not have another family?
Why are you still married to someone who you don't live with, and who only gives you 拢200 a month for his own son.. surely you can do better on your own?
You can apply for benefits but you must declare everything about your situation.
Why does he only give you 拢50 a week if you're married and in a relationship?
You could, but it would be illegal, and if you get caught, you would owe alot towards back taxes and interest owed on those taxes.
YES BUT BE SURE YOU TELL THEM EVERYTHING YOU CAN GET IT FOR FRAUD IF YOU DONT
You're not a single parent. Get divorced, and you'll be a single parent.
